HVAC Control Systems for Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Units

Today’s HVAC control systems go far beyond basic thermostats. With real-time sensor feedback and smart automation, these systems continuously adjust temperature, airflow, and humidity to maintain the perfect indoor environment.

Direct Digital Control (DDC)

Direct Digital Control systems are the backbone of most modern commercial HVAC systems. Using electronic input/output devices, DDCs adjust air handlers, fans, cooling coils, and other equipment in response to temperature and pressure sensors throughout the building.

  • Ideal for schools, hospitals, and offices
  • Supports variable-air-volume (VAV) configurations
  • Enables zone-based temperature control

A Building Automation System integrates all your HVAC equipment into a centralized control system. It monitors your building’s air quality, occupancy, and energy usage—allowing for smarter adjustments in real time.

  • Manages ventilation, lighting, and even security
  • Increases energy efficiency and system lifespan
  • Offers remote access and cloud-based reporting

While upfront costs for advanced HVAC control systems may vary, the long-term energy savings can be substantial. We offer free consultations to estimate return on investment based on your current setup, system age, and building needs.

  • Reduce energy bills
  • Improve occupant comfort
  • Minimize wear and tear on equipment

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is an HVAC control system?

An HVAC control system is the part of your heating and cooling setup that adjusts temperature, humidity, and airflow automatically. It uses sensors, controllers, and output devices to manage performance based on your needs.

We install Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and smart residential HVAC controls. We work with all major thermostats and controllers, including Honeywell, Trane, Siemens, and more.

Control systems reduce energy costs, improve air quality, and offer precise temperature control. They help your system run only when needed, which extends equipment life and enhances comfort throughout your building or home.

A DDC system uses a network of digital sensors, microprocessors, and relays to continuously monitor and adjust your HVAC equipment. It responds to variables like room temperature, occupancy, and air quality, making changes instantly.

We’ll inspect your existing system, design a control layout, and install the necessary hardware and software. Our team will test all input/output devices, set your priority levels, and teach you how to use the new interface.

Zone control systems divide your home into separate areas, or “zones,” each with its own thermostat to control the temperature independently. This setup allows you to heat or cool specific rooms as needed instead of conditioning the entire house at once. Zone control systems work through a series of dampers installed in the ductwork that open and close to direct airflow. They improve comfort by eliminating hot or cold spots and can help lower energy costs by reducing unnecessary heating or cooling in unused spaces.

Update: Joshua Makaya and his crew with Serenity came out and installed a fully complete air conditioning and heating system as ours was going out, again, I have to get my hats off to Serenity and their professional crew for doing a great job. Cleanup was nice and also provided us with one of the best systems in the business. Thank you guys and keep up the good work, been with you guys for 10 years and continuing on. 04-02-2026 Serenity Air has been one of the best experiences we have ever had with a business. Shawn (The Owner) and Sharon are great people to deal with and are very prompt and professional. I have a co-worker I suggested them to and he has had nothing but great service the same. I would highly recommend these guys and will definitely return for any future service needed. 05-19-2017 Had our systems tuned by Luke, he came out and checked everything thorough. I recommend the once a year check on any system. Mike

Paula was super helpful getting me scheduled and asked a few good questions upfront to understand what was going on. I wasn’t able to finish the assessment at first, but when I called back she got me in for the next day, which I really appreciated. Dylan called a couple hours before my appointment to see if he could come earlier, which worked out great. He showed up when he said he would, was really friendly, and knew exactly what he was doing. He fixed the issue and also gave me a few options/recommendations before he left. Overall, really great experience with both Paula and Dylan. I’d definitely recommend this company to friends and family.

Kaleb, was the tech. who did the service. He was on time and went right to work. He put on covers over his shoes, before entering my house. He was very informative when we talked about what he did. He was a very easy to talk to, and I would have him do service on any of my equipment in the future. He was very friendly to my dog who was looking for some affection.
